We are pleased to invite you to the SAFER project Final Conference that will be held in the framework of the CPMR Fisheries and Aquaculture Working Group on 20 September 2021, from 13:45 to 17:00 (CET).

The seafood sector is a key pillar of maritime regional economies. Though a traditional sector, it experiments with many innovations to further contribute to the Green Deal and become resilient to current challenges. The SAFER Final Conference will show how, since 2017, the SAFER project has improved the innovation performance of the seafood sector and boosted technology adoption via transnational cooperation. The results from the pilot actions developed by SAFER will be showcased, highlighting how it helped the sector to be more resilient, competitive and sustainable. Its contribution to the elaboration of the regional smart specialisation strategies will also be featured.

Other initiatives developed in different sea basins to boost innovation in the seafood sector will be presented to initiate a fruitful discussion between the CPMR regions (e.g. the CPMR Balkan and Black Sea Commission will be represented by the Region of Western Greece). These exchanges will help to highlight possible scenarios to further stimulate innovation in this sector, notably as part of the new 2021-2027 programming period.

We invite you to note this date in your agenda and already register via this link. Registrations will be open until Thursday 16 September 18.00 CET.
